Health Promotion at Beechworth Health Service

We all have a role to play
in improving health and wellbeing

Health Promotion

Our current Health Promotion activities:

  • Support for local education settings and workplaces to implement the Achievement Program
  • Support for local businesses, local government and organization to take action on healthier eating and active living
  • The Walking School Bus – supporting children to increase their physical activity level by travelling actively to school
  • Cool Relief Centres – co-ordination of local businesses to provide a refuge for people during extreme heat conditions
  • Beechworth Community Christmas Lunch

Our health promotion team aim to place good health at the centre of our everyday lives by creating healthy environments in the places where members of our community spend their time – including our local childcare centres, kindergartens, schools, workplaces, shops, food outlets and community organisations.

How can you get involved?

  • Join one of the health and wellbeing teams or our local early childhood services and primary schools
  • Get involved with our work to improve local food systems
  • Volunteer with the Walking School Bus or community Christmas lunch
  • Talk to us about implementing the Achievement Program in your early childhood service, primary, secondary school or workplace

Contact the health promotion team if you would like to know more!

We take a collaborative approach to creating healthy environments by working in partnership with other health services in our region, education settings, sporting groups, community organisations
