More than 200 people took advantage of the beautiful Spring weather to participate in the activity designed to get kids (and their parents) moving. Reducing Alcohol Related Harm in Rural Young People Project standard

Beechworth Health Service has recently brought to completion a two year project to reduce alcohol related harm in rural young people. This project was developed and implemented in partnership with the indigo Shire Council, Gateway Community Health, Beechworth Secondary College, Tallangatta Secondary College and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, Adolescent Health Nursing Program. The project has worked towards providing skill development and education for young people living in rural communities to stay safe, to support one another and open up conversations regarding alcohol and impacts of choice. Healthy Kids Learn Better standard

Beechworth Health Service is working with Primary Schools and Early Childhood Services to create environments that promote health every step of the way. We are going this by supporting schools and early childhood services to become recognised ‘healthy schools’ via the Healthy Together Achievement Program. As part of this program, Wooragee Primary School, St Joseph’s Primary School Beechworth, Beechworth Primary School, Beechworth Community Childcare Centre and Beechworth Kindergarten have all recently formed Health & Wellbeing Teams that will focus on creating interest and leading changes that improve the health and wellbeing of staff, parents and children.
