Christmas Greetings standard

On behalf of the Board and staff of Beechworth Health Service we would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Safe and Happy New Year. At a time when it may be easy to forget the true meaning of Christmas we have two initiatives that embody our values. We take great pride in our Community Christmas Lunch that takes place on Christmas Day. This event allows community members to come together and share in Christmas festivities at a time when they may be on their own. Successful Annual General Meeting standard

Our Annual General Meeting took place on Thursday 20th November in the Function Room of Beechworth Health Service where over 50 people were entertained by our Guest Speaker, Juanita Bekinschtein. Juanita, who is an educator with Alzheimer’s Australia (Vic) provided a comprehensive overview of the Montessori principles and how they can be introduced into an aged care environment to enhance the quality of life for residents. The annual awards for quality and excellence were also presented. Congratulations to Elizabeth Rogers a registered nurse in our Acute unit who won the Jan Webb Individual Award for Quality and Innovation. Healthy Together Walk standard

Congratulations to Anna, her health promotion team and volunteers on coordinating an extremely successful Healthy Together Walk yesterday. More than 200 people took advantage of the beautiful Spring weather to participate in the activity designed to get kids (and their parents) moving. Reducing Alcohol Related Harm in Rural Young People Project standard

Beechworth Health Service has recently brought to completion a two year project to reduce alcohol related harm in rural young people. This project was developed and implemented in partnership with the indigo Shire Council, Gateway Community Health, Beechworth Secondary College, Tallangatta Secondary College and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development, Adolescent Health Nursing Program. The project has worked towards providing skill development and education for young people living in rural communities to stay safe, to support one another and open up conversations regarding alcohol and impacts of choice.
